Our Hardwoods

Our hardwoods are specially selected for their combination of properties such as durability, structural properties, workability, strength, stability & aesthetics. Only the best quality material is accepted, & every consignment of wood is checked that the moisture content is not outside of our prescribed limits. Any consignments that fail to meet our rigorous quality control measures are turned away & refused. Once received the timber is kept stored within a humidity & temperature controlled environment until such times as it is machined for a conservatory. Each piece of hardwood is selected for its best purpose within our factory.

''In all aspects of the construction process much attention is given to the selection of the very best quality materials for our conservatories & orangeries.''

Whilst woodworking machinery is used to ensure a constant degree of accuracy, many of our processes are still carried out by hand in the traditional manner. Traditional joints are employed throughout the construction glued with an appropriate exterior grade adhesive with no surface fixings through the joinery face, as is common practice with other manufacturers.

We are also specialists in Oak, you can find out more about Oak here: Our Oak>

Each stage of manufacture is subject to repeated quality control prior to the next process being undertaken. In addition to being mechanically fixed all of our conservatory roof members employ traditional ‘birds mouth’ joints to help maintain structural rigidity in the roof. Each individual component with the exception of the trim is pre-erected in our factory prior to delivery in order to ensure an accurate fit. Glass templates are also taken at this stage in order that the safety glass can be ordered thereby avoiding unnecessary delays once the conservatory or orangery is delivered to your home. The doors & opening windows of the conservatory are pre-hung in the factory ensuring an accurate fit on site.

All of the components of the conservatory have a minimum of three coats of your choice of paint or stain applied in the factory under controlled conditions prior to delivery. This ensures adequate protection for the components whilst the conservatory is erected on site & forms the perfect base on which our professional conservatory finisher’s will apply the final coat.
